The Power of Praise
Pastor Carmen Lett

“Let the heavens be glad and let the earth rejoice. Let men say among the nations, the Lord reigns!” (1 Chronicles 16:31)

One of the most exciting things about being alive in this dispensation of the Church is the
saturation of “praise” that is happening across the earth! There is an unbelievable amount
of psalmist, praise and worship music, and focus on praise & worship in churches and
movements that is releasing the sound of heaven upon the earth, fulfilling the prophetic
proclamation that “the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”

This great release of praise is an indication that we are about to experience an
unprecedented “move of God” upon the earth! For we know this through the assurance
that God inhabits the praises of His people found in Psalm 22:3, and where there is praise
there is the presence of God! As God’s people have been crying out for an outpouring of
His Spirit, in turn, God is imparting greater revelation, hunger and fervor for Praise and
Worship because He has already established a connection of His habitation to praise. The
wonderful encouraging news is that this saturation of praise has been going on for almost
two decades and the benefits of that saturation are already occurring as well as hastening
to occur! We will see His Glory released upon the nations on this earth!

I happen to be of the generation that has seen this incredible deluge of praise come upon
the Church. Where we once had one “denominational hymnal”, now we have a plethora of music that streams constantly out of anointed psalmist and is released at lightning speed across nations through technologies that have only in the last five years been developed and mainstreamed! As a worship leader I can hardly “keep up” in my feasting upon all worship music that is all around me, and the worship music I am referring to is not just what is “popular” or “mass-marketed” but worship that is being birthed in small churches and by “unknown” artists who are undeniably gifted and anointed. There is enough praise and worship being written, performed, recorded and heard for praise and worship to be offered at great density at every moment of every day! Think about praise being released into the atmosphere at that rate and what happens when it does! No wonder the devil is so frustrated!

There is a resurgence of praise happening, and I must take some time to elaborate on that
word “resurgence” because the Praise and worship, at the level we see it occurring in the
Church today, is a “restoration” to the church. Historically, praise has always played a
powerful and central role in the movement of God’s people.

Since the time God declared Israel as a nation and brought them out of Egypt, we can
pinpoint praise to be central in their progression. It is evidenced in Moses as he praised in
song after Pharaoh’s army was swallowed up in the Red Sea and when the women of
Israel danced and sang in the desert while the young men dug for the water that followed
them. Again it’s found with the Prophetess and Judge, Deborah, singing prophetically after the victory of Jael against Sisera, and later when the singers marched before the army with Jehosephat singing, “Praise be to God, His mercies endure forever” setting an ambush against the enemy supernaturally. Once again we see it as a focus when Ezra led the people to sing forth praise as the foundation of the temple was laid. In the New Testament another powerful testament to praise as a conductor of the miraculous was when Paul and Silas praised the prison doors open!

There is no shortage to the precedent of praise being the central factor in the movement of the God’s people. However, when the control of man through religion brought the shroud of the dark-ages upon the Church, this spontaneous sound of anointed Praise and
Worship was silenced. For centuries a great vacuum of the manifested Glory of God
stretched over many generations until the restoration of the Church began to break loose
from it’s restraint into a sound of spirit and truth. God by His grace is restoring praise and
worship in His people and it has almost run the full course of it’s restoration!

As this resurgence and revival of praise has occurred in our time, let us grasp the
correlation that we always find the activity of Praise in every supernatural move of God
either preceding or following it and that there is a reciprocating response to the actions and activities of the Church through praise with the miraculous manifestation of God’s
presence and power. From this we can only conclude that the Last Day Outpouring and
Harvest is at hand! As we continue to embrace praise, actively allowing it’s spontaneous
release in the Body of Christ, God’s presence manifests in greater velocity and intensity.
Let the present-day sound of praise be an indicator and a sign that awakening and
outpouring are eminent! Allow it to be lifted up and see the gates of heaven be opened to
you this day!

“Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord; This is the gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee, for thou hast heard me and art become my salvation!” Psalm 118:19,20
